Lieu d’échanges et de manifestations culturelles, la Maison de l’Amérique accueille souvent nombre d’expositions intéressantes, et cela au 217, Boulevard Saint Germain, à raisonnable distance à pied de l’Hôtel Saint Thomas d’Aquin,  L’Hôtel Saint Vincent ainsi que de l’Hôtel Le Lenox Saint Germain.

Retenant notre attention actuellement, l’exposition sur Juan Soriano, sculpteur mexicain qui expose actuellement 14 de ses œuvres en bronze.  C’est un artiste qui a évolué du figuratif à l’épure, développant un goût pour l’autoportrait, la représentation des animaux et les sujets mythologiques. Son œuvre a rencontré tous les courants artistiques du XXI siècle et a puisé son inspiration dans les racines de l'art populaire et des traditions régionales du Mexique, dans le cubisme, le surréalisme et les sources littéraires, et parvenant ainsi à créer un style original où se mêlent réalisme, romantisme et abstraction.

L’exposition aura lieu du Mercredi 13 Avril 2011 au Mercredi 13 Juillet 2011, du Mardi au Samedi, de 14h à 18h. Il faut accéder à l’espace d’exposition en passant par la Rue Saint Dominique (angle Boulevard Saint Germain).
