Grâce
au charisme et à l’intelligence de son directeur, Pierre Braunberger, qui sera
à la tête de cette salle de 1929 à 1990, ce cinéma est fréquenté par de
nombreuses personnalités du monde culturel : Jean-Paul Sartre, Jacques
Prévert, Jean Cocteau seront des habitués du lieu. P. Braunberger soutiendra, à travers son cinéma et sa société de
production les films de La Nouvelle Vague, notamment François Truffaut, Jean-Luc
Godard, Alain Resnais.

2001, le Cinéma du Panthéon est racheté par Why Not Productions, qui reste
fidèle aux valeurs histoires d’avant-garde et de films d’auteur. Cette société
produit, entre autres, les films d’Arnaud Desplechin, Philippe Garrel, Bruno
Podalydes, Claude Lanzmann, et Jacques Audiard.
Entre
12h et 19h, du lundi au vendredi, il est également possible de profiter d’un
salon de thé, aménagé dans les combles du cinéma et entièrement décoré par
Catherine Deneuve et Christian Sapet.
